How we write
Short answer: Every guide starts with a direct answer, uses question-style headings, states only facts that can be checked or that are honestly general, and keeps a knowledgeable but not expert register. Where a fact varies by region or season, the guide says so instead of inventing a precise number.
What are the rules?
- Direct answer in the first part of every guide.
- Question-style headings throughout.
- No prices, no fabricated yields, no invented authors, fees, contacts, or figures.
- Plain hyphens only, no em dashes or en dashes, in content and templates.
- Real launch date as published date: 2026-10-31 for every guide on this site.
- Internal links connect clusters: supports link to their pillar and to siblings, pillars link selectively.
- General educational information only, with disclaimers where a step carries risk.
What is the topical structure?
The site is organised by nut type and by job step. Nut-type clusters cover walnut, acorn, pecan, hickory, and chestnut. Job-step clusters cover gathering, hulling, drying, cracking, sorting, and storing. Cross-cutting clusters cover identification, season, safety, tools, troubleshooting, and next-season planning. That two-way structure, by nut and by step, is the semantic architecture of the site.
What is still outstanding?
Images and spoken audio are later layers for this site and are not included on day one. No placeholder images or audio players are used. See the site README for the outstanding list.
